Planning for European Trophy 2011 Europe's most prestigious ice hockey pre season tournament will be played in August, but you’ll have to wait another couple of weeks to know which teams will participate and how the schedule looks like.
We sat down with tournament director Bo “Kulon” Lennartsson and talked about the European Trophy 2011.
- We’re currently in the late stages of planning the upcoming European Trophy. There’s a lot of buzz about the tournament within the ice hockey community and many clubs have shown interest in participating after last year’s success.
How many teams will participate in this year’s tournament?
- As I said, many clubs have shown interest in the tournament, so we will expand the tournament to 24 teams divided into four divisions.
What new teams are joining the European Trophy?
- There will be some new teams and a couple of teams from previous year’s tournament that will be replaced, but you will have to wait until after the world championship for an official announcement.
So there will be a press conference after the world championship?
- Yes, we will hold a press conference where we will tell the media all the details about the upcoming tournament. At the same time the web site will be updated with the schedule and information about the participating teams. So check back here every now and then for the latest information about European Trophy 2011.
