Pirati Chomutov will be the 32nd team in this year’s European Trophy. The team just moved up to the Czech Extraliga and opened up their new home Multifunkcni Arena Chomutov in 2011.
Pirati Comutov, the professional division of KLH Chomutov, joins European Trophy due to HC Slavia Praha’s violation of the European Trophy contracts.
“A warm welcome goes to Pirati Chomutov from all the other teams and my side too. The club has great ambitions and I think they are a perfect addition to our European Trophy group”, says tournament director Bo Lennartsson.
The ET 2012 will start August 10th 2012. 128 group stage games will be played until there will be the final tournament, Red Bulls Salute, held from December 13th - 16th 2012 in Vienna and Bratislava. Champions of six of the participating seven countries will be playing in this year’s competition.
