Slavia Prague has announced that they are pulling out of European Trophy, just two months before the start of the tournament with the schedule all set.
- It’s a very unprofessional decision by Slavia Prague. By leaving the tournament this late they’ve let the other 31 teams and lots of European hockey fans down. We have already received phone calls and e-mails from disappointed hockey fans that had planned a trip to Prague to see their team, says tournament director Bo Lennartsson.
What will happen now in the South division, where Slavia Prague were supposed to play?
- There’s not much time left until the tournament starts, but we will do everything we can to replace Slavia Prague. The European Trophy brand is very strong among European clubs, so I think we can find a team that can rearrange their schedule. I’m sure many teams would like to join the European Trophy.
