Players from seven different European Trophy teams won 13 medals at the World Championships in Helsinki and Stockholm that just finished last Sunday. Meanwhile Russia hoisted the cup for the first time since 2009 thanks to a great team performance and unbelievable games of MVP Yevgeni Malkin, plenty of players of ET participants won silver and bronze medals.
The most successful European Trophy club at the World Championships was Sparta Prague winning two silver medals with the Slovakian national team and one bronze medal with the Czech team. Slovan Bratislava also had two silver medal winners and HC Ceske Budejovice and HC Bili Tygri Liberec both won one silver and one bronze medal. Bronze medallists also came from Slavia Prague (2), TPS Turku and HC Pardubice.
