Kometa Brno back to winning ways

After Sundays 3–2-defeat at home to HV 71, Kometa Brno got back to winning ways again on Tuesday night, away to Czech compatriots, Bili Tygri Liberec who played their first game ever in the European Trophy.

In front of 1 500 spectators in the Svijanska Arena the teams played out an evenly balancedm but goalless first period. It was the guests who had the better chances though and in the second period took the lead when Hynek Zohorna  foud the net. The lead was doubled only 22 seconds before the interval when the tournments top-scorer, Tomas Pospisil, turned provider to set up a power-play-goal for Jan Svrcek.

That proved to be the gamewinning goal. Despite outshooting the guests 17–9 in the final period, homeside Liberec only managed the one goal scored by Jaroslav Kudrna, on a power-play with a little over five minutes to play.

Brno were put under intense preassure during the final minutes but goalie Sasu Hovi came up big on several occasions to secure the win.

Bili Tygri Liberec will get a new chance to pick upp their first points of the tournament on Thursday when HC CSOB Pojistovna Pardubice come to visit. Kometa Brons next game will be away to German team Adler Mennheim on Friday.
